Alocasia x amazonica 'Polly' African Mask Elephant's Ear
Beautiful, rare and exotic all describe this spectacular houseplant. The very tropical and exquisite African Mask has bright white veins protruding from a glossy dark greenish black background arrow shaped leaves. This breath taking tropical perennial plant grows large thick leaves which can reach over a foot in length. They are dramatic as ornamental houseplants and thrive in light shade to full shade conditions in or outdoor. This exotic plant should be kept well watered when growing. Prefers moist but not wet soil and humidity as high as possible. The Alocasia x amazonica Polly makes for a outstanding exotic house plant that is able to thrive in most if not all household conditions.
Dichorisandra thyrsiflora "Blue Ginger"
Blue ginger flowers in autumn when there are few other blooms in the tropical garden – its striking blue flowers set off by a mass of glossy green foliage. For a shady spot in a frost few garden, this gem remains unsurpassed.
The blue ginger is a plant that loves its own company. It looks good in bold groupings planted a metre or so apart where it can substitute for a tropical shrub or plant as a single specimen in a shaded border. Planted in good conditions it can grow to about 2m tall. Blue ginger originates from the forests of Brazil, so a warm, humid nutrient enriched garden encourages a stellar performance. In moderately cool climates, blue ginger will grow best under trees where it can be protected from frost, this will enable them to stagger through the winter. However if they become untidy, you can cut the canes off and let the plant completely regrow.

Havana Cigar is one of the real stunners of the tropical world. This plant just screams tropical! The large oblong waxy backed leaves are held slightly erect, making them highly visible to the viewer. The unusual chocolate flower bracts are arranged like a candelabra. From the Amazon and grows to 5m.
Calathea lutea cv Golden Cigar
Rare in cultivation.Originally from Alan Carle's collection. While the plant growth habit is similar to Havana Cigar the flowers are much larger on this variety. They also are a more golden color which I can't seem to photograph well. I've been told it is less cold tolerant than Havana but am unsure. Grows to 5m.
